Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) was a French mathematician and philosopher who is most notable for his creation of the Pascaline adding device and the development of the phenomenon known today as Pascal's Law.

Pascal was once studying the effects of pressure on liquids and discovered that when pressure is applied on liquid in a container, it will disperse equally to all parts of the container. This became known as Pascal's Law and is very important to the study of hydraulics.
